Bob Boyd - “Back in the Game”

(Continued)

Boyd encourages other cancer patients to stay upbeat and positive, to exercise as much as their strength and doctors will allow, and to set a goal for themselves.

Boyd’s wife, among others in his support group, as well as a very energetic physical therapist (Claudio Battaglini) helped Boyd do just that.

“My drive was to return to golf,” Boyd noted. “While I was in the hospital, my goal was to get into remission, to work hard enough so that I could get back into golf.”

Boyd returned to playing golf in October, eight months after his diagnosis. He recently placed eighth in the PGA Quarter Century Club Championship and ninth in the PGA Stroke Championship, both held in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

“We really feel lucky that we were sent to UNC,” the couple explained. “We’re big Carolina fans right now, let’s just say that.”
